Polar Plunge XVIII 2010-plunge shots : Virginia Beach, Va. The 18th Annual Polar Plunge on Feb. 6th, and the weather was "just right". WOW! What a Plunge! Driving snow and howling winds didn't stop the dedicated group of Plungers from diving into the Atlantic Ocean today. I'm especially proud of my wife,daughter and her two friends for raising money for the event and getting their feet wet today! How exciting it was to see all those who plunged and volunteered their time to make this event a huge success. I was scheduled to shoot the event from the water again, but mother nature decided otherwise. Be sure to view the photos as large as possible for the best view.

LOOK FOR THE SEPARATE GALLERIES TO FOLLOW. The Special Olympics Virginia Polar Plunge dates back to 1993. Virginia's Adventure Club East was looking for something fun and "extreme" to do in the middle of winter. Coincidentally, Special Olympics Virginia was looking for new fundraising avenues. Soon, the two pieces came together. That first plunge, held at the Clarion Hotel, featured all of about 34 plungers and still raised almost $8,000. In comparison, last year, the 16th annual Polar Plunge raised more than $900,000 for Special Olympics Virginia and more than 3,500 chilled souls took the plunge. Because of this generous support, Special Olympics Virginia is able to provide year-round training and sports programs for both children and adults with intellectual disabilities throughout the state of Virginia. This is the second year we have donated the services of Nevermind Charters for photographing the event from the water. Last year we had local Photographer Tom Gorman aboard and he did a great job capturing the Plungers as they entered the water. Special thanks to Holly Claytor of the Special Olympics of Virginia for working with us and coordinating the photo-shoot. We will be providing all of these photos to the S.O.V. for use in promoting a great cause. KW FILMZ was perched on the North Jetty capturing the incoming fleet on Friday, 8/22. I captured almost every boat that fished that day. U.S.S Truman Friends & Family Cruise 08' : 7/26/08 XO J.J. Cummings invited a whole slew of friends to ride along on the U.S.S. Harry S. Truman for a day of food,tours & air shows. We departed Norfolk,Va. at about 0600 and ventured 80 miles off the coast of Va. Beach. It was a perfect day offshore-sunny, light winds ,and calm seas.
